Residential treatment services are provided for
males and females, ages 11 to 18 in one of two homes located on the island.
Teams of Youth Workers, on duty 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, work with six
youth in each home.
Youth participate in minimum weekly individual
therapy and family therapy with Hale 'Opio's licensed therapists, and
participate in five weekly group sessions. Youth attend public school with
daily on campus support and monitoring provided by Hale 'Opio's School
Liaisons.
An after school Fine Arts program, including
instruction in ceramics, photography, and other media, is integral to the
therapeutic environment. Youth actively participate in art shows, and are the
recipients of many awards
The program sponsors a canoe team for recreational
purposes, developing teamwork and personal bests. Hale 'Opio collaborates with
other community private and public agencies and professionals to create unique
opportunities for every youth in an individualized program of services.
