JOB TITLE: Youth Worker

PROGRAM: Residential

REPORTS TO: Clinical Coordinator for Residential Programs

TYPE OF POSITION: Non-Exempt

I. JOB SUMMARY: Under the general supervision of the Clinical Coordinator for the Residential Programs and the direction of the Program Manager and in keeping with the mission and values of the organization, the primary function of this position is to facilitate each consumer participation in the group home program.

II. QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS: Skills/Knowledge: Working knowledge of basic PC & MS Word skills. Understanding of and ability to implement behavioral tenets and techniques as applied to adolescents; ability to communicate clearly and concisely with consumers and their families; good writing skills; valid driver license and personal vehicle with current minimum auto insurance. Education/Training: Bachelor's degree in social work, criminal justice, or related field preferred. Certified in CPR and First Aid. Experience: Experience may be substituted for education/training on a year for year basis.

III. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Maintain consumer confidentiality at all levels.
Demonstrate acceptance and implementation of the organization's philosophy of family-centered, strengths-based, collaborative services.
Attend trainings and meetings as required.
Monitor consumers' activities and behavior in order to ensure facility safety and consumer safety and compliance
Implement the program structure for each consumer, ensuring the provision of a safe, structured home setting
Participate in group counseling sessions
Participate in weekly case conferences for the review of consumer cases
Prepare timely, accurate documentation of all activities and occurrences, including consumer program and points progress
Prepare meals, acquire clothing, and ensure access to all other necessities for the consumer
Provide transportation to school, appointments, recreational activities, and other locations as needed

IV. OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS: Provide facility coverage when other staff is unavailable. Perform other duties as necessary.

V. WORKING CONDITIONS: Environment: Air-conditioned office, residential settings, frequent outdoor and community settings. Equipment Used: Passenger van, computer, and all other standard office equipment. Work Hours: The shift length, number, and time vary according to employment status as full-time, part-time, or on-call. This position is scheduled during all shifts.

VI. PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Frequent driving, preparation of meals, participation in recreational activities which are occasionally strenuous, frequent lifting and carrying up to 50 pounds, frequent walking.

VII. MENTAL DEMANDS: Frequent work under pressure, or deadlines, frequent decision-making, use of judgement and discretion.

VIII. COMMUNICATIONS DEMANDS: Frequent reading and writing required; requires ability to interpret written and oral needs/requests of others; moderate, effective oral (in person and telephonically) communication required; must work collaboratively as a member of a team; must relate well with and work cooperatively with different ethnic groups and be sensitive to the cultural, language or dialect, financial, and educational diversity of colleagues and consumers.

IX. OTHER: Must have access to a vehicle, and if driving, must have a valid driver's license, a safe and responsible driving record, plus a current no-fault auto insurance, with at least the minimum State of Hawai'i coverage requirements.

JOB TITLE: Professional Parent

PROGRAM: Therapeutic Foster Home Program

REPORTS TO: Therapeutic Foster Home Program Coordinator

TYPE OF POSITION: Exempt

I. JOB SUMMARY: Under the direct supervision of the parent supervisor and general supervision of the Therapeutic Foster Home Program Coordinator, and in keeping with the mission and values of the organization, the primary function of this position is to direct, nurture, and supervise a consumer youth enrolled in the Therapeutic Foster Home Program using principles of behavior change and development.

II. QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS: Skills/Knowledge: Communicate clearly and concisely with consumers, their families, and community and agency representatives; understanding implementation of behavioral tenets and techniques as applied to children and adolescents; self-starting and self-directing; writing skills. Education/Training: High school diploma preferred and Hale `Opio Kaua`i, Inc. certification. Certified in CPR and First Aid. Experience: Work experience with children and adolescents preferred.

II. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Maintain consumer confidentiality at all levels.
Demonstrate acceptance and implementation of the organization's philosophy of family-centered, strengths-based, collaborative services.
Attend trainings and meetings as required.
Implement treatment plans developed with each consumer and the respective treatment team
Provide a safe, structured home environment for the consumer youth by ensuring the provision of nutritional food, appropriate clothing, and a well-maintained physical environment
Provide transportation for the consumer youth as required
Develop individualized behavior change contracts in collaboration with the consumer and parent supervisor.
Provide frequent and ongoing opportunities to the consumer youth for the development of new skills.
Demonstrates ability to work as a member of a team
Maintain frequent contact with appropriate family members of the consumer as well as the referral and other community agencies including school
Participate in regular parent support meetings.
Prepare timely, accurate documentation of all activities, contacts, interventions, and occurrences as well as periodic reports to the parent supervisor

IV. OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS: Perform other duties as necessary.

V. WORKING CONDITIONS: Environment: Generally work in own home. Community settings, occasional office to frequent outdoor settings. Equipment Use: Passenger vehicle, telephone, and equipment common in homes. Work Hours: With the consumer living in the home, the primary professional parent must be available 24 hours per day. The secondary parent may work. The parents are scheduled to receive at least one respite weekend per month.

VI. PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Work in a own home, frequent driving, sitting, walking, occasional lifting and carrying, possible use of physical restraints.

VII. MENTAL DEMANDS: Frequent work under pressure, or deadlines, frequent decision-making, use of judgement and discretion.

VIII. COMMUNICATIONS DEMANDS: Frequent reading and writing required; requires ability to interpret written and oral needs/requests of others; moderate, effective oral (in person and telephonically) communication required; must work collaboratively as a member of a team; must relate well with and work cooperatively with different ethnic groups and be sensitive to the cultural, language or dialect, financial, and educational diversity of colleagues and consumers.

IX. OTHER: May require accommodation of additional staff in own home. Must have a residence which can be licensed. Must have access to a vehicle, and if driving, must have a valid driver's license, a safe and responsible driving record, plus a current no-fault auto insurance, with at least the minimum State of Hawai'i coverage requirements.
